Somatic Activities to Support Feeling

Disappointed

Tearful Release

How To Do It:

Sit in a quiet space, allow yourself to feel the disappointment fully, and let tears flow as a natural release.

Why It Works:

Crying helps in releasing pent-up emotions and provides a physical release of stress, allowing for emotional processing.

Guided Practice:

Find a comfortable place where you can sit quietly. Take a few deep breaths, letting your awareness settle into your heart center. Feel into the rhythm of your breath and imagine a gentle warmth spreading from your heart, softening and expanding as you breathe.

Let each breath ease your body and calm your thoughts. Bring your awareness to any emotions that you have been holding onto — sadness, grief, frustration, or any other feelings that feel heavy. Allow yourself to feel the weight of these emotions in your body, perhaps noticing a tightness in your chest, a heaviness in your shoulders, or a knot in your stomach.

As you focus on these emotions, invite a sense of release. Imagine your body as a vessel that can safely hold these feelings, allowing them to surface and be expressed. Notice if any tears begin to form or any sensations arise that indicate a release — perhaps a softening in your throat, a quivering in your lips, or a gentle ache in your heart. Stay with these sensations, allowing them to move through you without judgment or resistance.

Visualize your tears as a gentle rain, washing away the tension or heaviness you’ve been carrying. Feel each tear as a droplet that helps cleanse your spirit, releasing what no longer serves you. Notice if any images, symbols, or memories arise that represent this release — perhaps a river flowing, a cloud dispersing, or a flower opening after a storm. Let these images guide your understanding of what is being released and how this process is healing you.

When you feel the release slowing, gently bring your awareness back to your breath, taking a few deep breaths to ground yourself. Notice how your body feels now — perhaps lighter, more open, or simply more at ease. Gently open your eyes, carrying this sense of emotional release and renewal with you, knowing that you have honored your feelings and created space for healing.
