How to Do It
Stand up and start gently shaking your hands, then gradually move to your arms, shoulders, torso, and legs. Let your whole body shake and bounce lightly. Imagine shaking off any tension or fatigue.
Why It Works
Shaking the body helps to release tension, stimulate circulation, and quickly boost energy.
Guided Practice
Gently close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, allowing yourself to arrive in this moment. With each breath, notice if there’s a part of your body that feels more at ease, inviting a sense of calm to settle over you. Let yourself be curious about what arises within.
Stand with your feet hip-width apart and your knees slightly bent taking a deep breath, feeling your body relax and your spine lengthen. Start shaking your body gently, beginning with your hands and gradually moving to your arms, shoulders, and down through your legs. Notice the sensations of shaking — the vibrations moving through your body, the feeling of looseness and release. Feel the energy building as you shake, a lightness spreading from your core to your extremities.
Focus on the feeling of release that comes with shaking. Notice any areas of tension that begin to loosen — perhaps a stiffness in your shoulders or a tightness in your hips. Feel the sensation of letting go, each shake releasing built-up tension or stagnant energy. Stay with these sensations, noticing how your body feels lighter and freer with each movement. Allow any emotions to arise — maybe a sense of playfulness, relief, or even joy. Let these emotions move through your body, mirroring the shaking motion.
As you continue to shake, invite any familiar feelings or beliefs about letting go to come to the surface. Maybe there’s a belief about holding onto stress or a memory of a time when you felt truly free. Notice where these feelings are located in your body — perhaps a lightness in your chest or a relaxation in your jaw. Stay with these feelings, allowing them to inform your understanding of your body’s natural capacity to release and renew.
When you feel ready, gradually slow the shaking, coming to a gentle stop. Take a few deep breaths, noticing the sensations in your body now — perhaps a tingling, a warmth, or a newfound sense of freedom. Gently open your eyes, carrying this sense of lightness and release with you into the rest of your day.
